The Saga Continues...
Hello all my loves,
Sorry we haven't been in touch lately. Alright. Where did we leave off *the question mark doesn't work here. So I think we left you all in Malaga or better yet, Torremolinas which is a beautiful little beach town right outside of Malaga. We actually never saw Malaga. We did however find a local bar to spend the afternoon in sampling Andalucian wines which will kick you on your butt. We made some friends with the owner and......didn't have to pay. They wanted us to acompany them to a place called PortoMarino but I asked our hotel hombre and he thought it was a bad idea. It would have been fine most likely but I am a wuss and don't like to take risks that endanger myself. So we told them in our best spanish that I had a headache from all the drinking and that I was going to take a nap. They have siestas here right-... So then we snuck out of our room avoiding the bar next door and went off to have dinner and gelato or helado. Quite nice. Meanwhile we decided that we should try to catch a ride with some german girls we met at our hostel to \Tarifa instead of taking the bus. We thought about it and then decided to cancel camping because we heard it is terribly windy in Tarifa. What we thought was a surf town was a wind surfing town. haha SO no camping. BUt we did meet the german girls, Juliana and Jana at 10 the next morning to travel the coast with them. They both are doing a law internship in Alicante. So we traveled the coast in their Mazda *it was meant to be* We saw Africa *so cool! It was sunny all day too. We checked out the little town of tarifa where we saw the mar mediterraneo on one side and the mar alantico on the other. The sand was so white, the ocean a beautiful blue green. Everything was perfect except for the crazy wind down by the beach. In town the buliding block most of the wind so when it is hot, which it was, we were able to enjoy a nice breeze during our little cafe lunch while we watched the Semana Santa Processsion of Jesus go by. Quite beautiful. The germans we hung out with were quite funny and thought the whole procession thing was just a little much, which it might have been but it was a beautiful experience. After Tarifa we went on to Cadiz. We also sawe the rock of Gilbralter from the car, we didn't stop. Lots of monkeys on it. We were only along for the ride too. So Cadiz was great. A little dirty but pretty beaches. Had beautiful little winding streets. Walked up the tower in the town church and overlooked the entire town. BEautiful
Traveled on to Sevilla where we parked so far away. Carried our bags, separated from the girls to meet up later and walked to our hostel santa maria where they don't speak much english. We get there only to find out at 10 oclock at night that they don't have a room for us. The man is telling me I need a confirmation number which I had but apparently it was from the website, not from them. I needed one from them. I had already paid 23 $ so I was a little upset. So after crying and trying my best to explain myself the owner, this cute little spanish woman with a deep voice came to make a solution. She put us up in a really nice hotel for the night and told us she would have a room for tomorrow night. So we are there now and it is lovely. Right in the middle of Barrio Santa Cruz. Jen and I love SEvilla. Especially at night. Everything is lit up and beautiful. We tried to go to see flamenco that same night but we arrived too late and it was over. So we enjoyed tapas with the germans and then went home. OH did I mention we were so dressed up and everyone was looking at us funny. Hahah. Oh well. I at least got to wear my new dress.
Next day Which was monday we saw the HUGE catedral, the giralda tower, walked by casa pilata but didn't want to spend the money, had some nuts and sat in plaza pilato. We had walked around sierpes which has lots of shoes and found an amazing spanish pattern blanket. Un poco caro pero muy muy bonita. But it was on sale half off. We are suc h bargin shoppers. Flea market in sevilla on thrs but we leave tomorrow. Have to go book our train right now to lisbon. Want to meet up with our portuguese friends who tell us......You come....YOu stay here....we go for a walk....in broken english. haha Loved them.
We are having a wonderful time despite all of the crazy problems we have endured. Last night we were awoken at 2 am to the shrill of an alarm two places away. Yeah for us that it lasted an hour and even ear plugs didn't work. The police came, looked at it, called someone and drove away with the alarm still sounding for another 45 min. YEah for us again. Finally silence. We awoke in the morning to find that someone had smashed into it with a hammer. hahaha So tonight it wont be waking us up. Prior to sleep enjoyed a lovely italian dinner by the reccommendation of a nice older spanish man on the street. We met Pepe the only english speaking waiter and he took care of us. He gave us gifts of Small Bites.......which were these AMAZING won ton papers filled with soft melted parmesean wrapped with green onion. Oh my gosh. SOooooo good. Then he gave us both little lemon sorbet drinks for dessert while we waited for our creme brulee.[ HE was quite nice and the food was good too. We had pumpkin on our pizza. Yum!
Today we woke up late....blame the alarm, walked around and then went to the spa. Yeah we know. The spa. But it was super cheap here and well needed after all of our problems. So I had my entire body exfoliated and Jen had a 45 min masaje. Quite nice. So here we are, on our way to get a bite, make some train accomidations and see Alcazares.
Ok we are alive and well, having fun. Love you all. Kisses. Leave messages please. We love to hear from you all.

Big Daddy sez, Great to hear from you guys, we were starting to get concerned...... but wait a minute... thats what parents always do! Sounds like a great time! Your descriptions make me imagine I am there looking accross at the African coast, muy bueno! I am going to print out all of your posts and show them to grandpa so he can share in your adventure. When I told him that you were going to Spain, he said.. thats the best! So enjoy yourself and be safe! .....make some memories... wait a minute... there I go being a parent again! Ha! Love Mom and Dad
buenos dias, muchachas. thanks for the nice long report. loved that you hooked up a ride w/the frauleins; it's a good way to share experiences and meet people. can't believe you could really see monkeys on gibraltar?! i was also hoping you would see some good religious ceremonies for easter week; apparently those alemanes were just too heathen to appreciate the parade.
if you'd rather spend your pesos on spas instead of casa de pilatos that's your prerogative, but looks like you missed the royal tobacco company - home of carmen the famous gypsy. nevermind, lots more in store. pase un bien viaje. love you.
